The Art of Aerial Acrobatics

In her last blog post, Grace Good’s Specialty Tricks, Grace mentioned aerial acrobatics. You may be wondering, what is aerial acrobatics? Well, she’s here to tell you just that, along with a few secrets about how she makes her performances unique.

Aerial acrobatics is a performance art that combines gymnastics, dance, and aerial arts. Believe it or not, Grace has never taken a dance class or practiced gymnastics before attempting it! This unique circus-style of entertainment involves using aerial apparatus such as trapeze, ropes, hammocks, or fabrics. A fabric structure called a rig is often suspended from the ceiling at heights ranging from 15 feet to over 100 feet. Performers climb, swing, and dance through the air using their apparatus of choice, incorporating props such as hoops to enhance the choreography even further!

Grace differentiates herself from the rest of the performers by pushing the boundaries of aerial choreography and adding the element of fire. Aerial acrobatics is already a complex, athletic art form, as Grace likes to put it. So, why not take it a step further? Catching her hoops on fire while twirling around in the air WOWs her audience every time, and that’s what Grace Good lives for!

When asked how she mastered this craft at 18 without any background in the circus, Grace explains, “in short, persistence, blood, sweat, and tears.” Grace proves to herself daily that she can do anything she puts her mind to and strives to inspire others to do the same! #SpreadTheGood
